Trim the Fat
Popular phrase amongst the traders and investment bankers in 2008 no doubt.
Applying that to myself, I would say it's literal - I hope to get rid of the love handles sometime in 2009.
Just went for a 2-hr trek along the Yarra at Studley Park with the family and it was a lot better than I expected.
Weather was touch and go; brief breaks of sunshine followed immediately by windy overcast conditions then back to sun.
Track was a bit of give and take too; breathtaking views and serene spots, fascinated by Melbourne's large colony of grey-headed flying foxes hanging from the trees. But also occurrences of muddy pools and occasional litter. Plenty of narrow paths, some uphill, some downhill, some loose stones which were a threat to the safety of unprepared hikers, but then areas of luscious grassy patches.
In 2009 I resolve to keep learning and growing, cutting off life's fat that slows me down - bad habits and pre-conceived notions. Like I alluded to in my last post of 2008, you make what you want of life. I like to take the good with the bad because it's inevitable. So the walk I had today just reinforces what I can look forward to in 2009 - everything.
Happy new year.
