A Week In The Life Of...

I’ve actually tried to write in here a few times these last few days but for a combination of Telstra BigPond sucking balls (will be justified later), lack of time, sharing the comp. with other members of my family and laziness, I find myself only managing to write in here on a very hot Friday afternoon.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my holidays thus far, always having my days packed with things to do. I think this entry will be relatively long and so if any of you out there are popping on just to have a “quickie” then I apologise now. Basically I’ll outline what’s been going on since Sunday, where I wrote the latest instalment of my blog.

Sunday
Sunday afternoon I got the word from Cliffy that something was gonna go down that night, involving the usual suspects, the boys of old – myself, Cliff, Chris and last and least…Garry (haha sorry dude). Chris was busy with his “hands full” at the Miss Chinese Community Quest in the city, so us other musketeers decided to see “The Grudge” and made our decision at 9:25pm for a 9:40pm session at Chaddy Hoyts. Needless to say, we got there maybe a speeding fine later and about 5 mins into the movie.

We walked out of the movie disappointed to say the least. I guess it was our own fault for deciding on that movie anyway. It was a massive copy of “The Ring” and there was no depth to it at all. Personally, I felt that the only thing it had going for it was the scares through the movie. I’ll give it that and only that, it was “jumpy-scary” at times, made to give you a shock, but there was no more to the movie.

After the movie we met up with Chris at Stalacs and had the usual meat platter. Ahh, Stalacs is always good in wee hours of the morning! We then rounded to Cliffy’s where we had all parked our cars, and we ended the night going on a bit of a cruise around the back streets of Balwyn in Chris’ Peugeot and Cliff’s WRX. There is no more that happened that night and let’s just leave it at that shall we? ;) Hehe…

Monday
Sleeping the previous night at around 4am, I only awoke at 1pm due to Anna coming into my room and shaking me into consciousness. She had had her last exam and I guess was quite invigorated. We went to Camberwell to get her car washed and then headed off to Chaddy to shop around in preparation of the VIP Shopping night on Wednesday.

Later on that night we had dinner at Medici at Docklands to farewell Steve Ta who was going to the USA for 3 months. It was a low-key affair and gave everyone a chance to catch up after exams. The food wasn’t bad and the company was good so it made for a very enjoyable evening. There was karaoke at Sen Bar later on but I decided I wanted to have an early one. I ended up going home and watching about 5 episodes of “The Apprentice” and sleeping about 4:30am.

Tuesday
I planned to go to the city and pay a visit to David Jones because Chadstone DJs, Menswear was disappointing. There were hardly any small sizes of anything and not many colours to choose from either. Anyway, I had $100 to spend from a gift voucher given to DJs employees who had worked the majority of the last financial year. I ended up getting two tops and then headed home to get ready for the SCUC Annual Dinner.

The dinner was good, plenty of food, especially on our table where I was only one of three guys. The adults kept looking over to our table and laughing at how little we had eaten. Oh the shame! Hehe, but in the end a few of us doggy bagged it, so all was not lost! I ended up going home early but slept late because I watched more episodes of “The Apprentice” hehe oh dear.

Wednesday
Originally I wanted to finally hit the gym in the morning but my sleeping pattern had been out of whack for a long time, the many post-4am bedtimes had taken its toll. Again I informed Steve (not Ta, Tran) that I couldn’t make it again. I felt better though when he told me he couldn’t make it either seeing as he slept at 6:30am himself. Haha all good! Anyway, Anna came over to chauffeur me (again…and again and for that I thank you) to Chaddy for the VIP shopping night. Shopping with Anna was interesting to say the least, seeing as she spent a fair amount and I hadn’t bought one single item until the last 20 mins when I decided I just had to make a purchase just to keep up! Haha so, I ended up buying “Trainspotting” which I have wanted for a long time but never really made a conscious decision to buy it. It only set me back about $15 so I was happy.

After Chaddy I ended up meeting the boys at Cliffy’s again to watch a DVD. Garry was in Chaddy while Cliff, Chris and I began watching “Taking Lives” with Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke. I thought it was a decent movie, but it was fairly obvious who the killer was. I give credit to the directors though, the thriller thing has been done so many times it’s hard to make it original anymore, especially with all these new crime shows like CSI (Las Vegas, Miami and the upcoming NY), Law & Order, Cold Case etc. Anyway, after the movie we watched Chris play Half Life 2 then Garry and I decided to leave. It was only about 3am when I left but for some odd reason when I looked at the time on my clock as I got into bed, it showed about 5am. That always happens, I swear, time just ticks right on so fast…

Thursday
Having blown off Steve twice in the last few days, I decided to hold true to my promise and organised to meet 2pm at Melbourne Uni Gym. We swiped in about 3pm and left around 4:45. We both had really late nights, in fact more like morning, so we spent a lot of the 1:45 hours resting.

Around 7:45pm Steve swung by to give me a lift to Henry’s for Poker Night. Poker was fun, in the ring game, I slowly worked my way up during the game, Silent Giant I was hehe. I began by leveraging and borrowing $5 of Steve and ended up with $15.10 in chips at the end. I then paid him back and used the $10 to buy into the “tourney” after the ring game had ended. I didn’t do too well and got eliminated 4th but stayed to watch Steve and Henry battle it out for first. Being out early, I had the chance to see Steve’s cards and it was unbelievable how good his hands were! Even having crappy cards like 4, 9 off-suit, he caught a 4 and a 9 on the flop for a two-pair straight up! I guess when you have the amount of chips he had, you can afford to play such poor cards as that and have some luck come your way. Chip leader for a good majority of the tourney, naturally he finished Henry off and came first. It was around 2:30am then and Garry and I decided to leave. Although I only won 10 cents overall (which I lost on the floor somewhere anyway haha) I played two full games of Texas Hold ‘Em, effectively for free and that experience was worthwhile so I was content. I managed to sleep about 3:30am as well!

Friday (today)
Today I woke up late once again and began downloading the latest episode (ep. 9) of "Laguna Beach." A good majority of today was spent playing FIFA 2004 and WRC II on the PS2 because my mum kicked me off the computer and there was nothing else to do. I went in the backyard and played with KJ for a bit though and tried to get a bit of a tan! It’s now about 5pm and I’ve been trying to put this entry up for a while, just that Telstra is being difficult. I guess it’s my fault downloading about 33gb this month so far, so naturally they’ve capped me to about 64kbits/second which is around 8kbytes/second. Argh!!! Other than that, I don’t have anything planned except the word is that there’s bowling 11:30pm with Garry and Co. Hopefully something interesting will happen and I will have something exciting to write about next time. Till then, take care of yourself, and each other.
