honey! i fried my brain!
ho hum, hum ho...
not too much happening in my life at this point in time. and anything that is happening centres around work.
trying to recall any updates outside of work. oh yes, in the precious time i have at home on weekdays now, i spend a portion of it looking up stuff on the internet. in the last week or two it's been things drumming related. i think i've come to an educated conclusion on who my favourite drummers are now. i would have to say dave weckl is my overall favourite because he's just so crazy. he's not like loud crash and bash crazy, but he's so freakishly talented it's not funny. all rounder that guy. my other favourite is jeff queen who's chaotic! he's more of a specialist i guess, focusing on just the snare but he turns it up when he does his fast rolls. seriously, check out small clips of either of these two at www.vicfirth.com to know where im coming from.
work's been okay. it's funny to think that i will be seeing these people almost every single day for probably the next few years. spent this week trying in vain to get chargeable work, little here and there, but mostly allocating time to the case study the grads have been given to work on, which is admin on our timesheets. but i'll be going out next wed for about 4.5 weeks at two different clients so i might not see the office for a while.
there's also a bit of buzz around since the annual Ball is coming up mid august. thinking about organising a table but i prefer just joining one. im not sure if it means anything but today a colleague made the observation that she could easily pick who would go on who's table, except for me. apparently i could be "haphazard" and turn up on one of a bunch of tables. i hope that means that i get along with a good range of people.
last night i spent two hours watching Wedding Crashers for the first time. i had wanted to see that movie for such a long time - since it came out in fact. it's one of those silly comedies that i enjoy every now and then, in the vein of a Ben Stiller/Will Ferrell/Owen Wilson type flick. it wasn't too bad, just the thing for a cold rainy night after a long day at work. it also served as a reminder of how attractive Rachel McAdams is. i remember she caught my attention in The Notebook (yeah don't ask) but i guess she fell off my radar.
speaking of movies, i've seen a few at the cinemas lately, including Pirates 3, Fantastic Four 2 and Transformers. Pirates was good, I've always liked the set but i would say this wasn't the best one. Fantastic Four wasn't great at all. Even the normally unfailing Jessica Alba couldn't rescue it. She didn't even look that good, i dont think blonde suits her, and her blue eyes were too fake it was distracting. Transformers...that was AWESOME! I went into the movie with a lot of positive feedback from a range of people, but I kept a bit of skepticism going in just to even things out, but after I watched it, DAMN! it was sooo cool!
im thinking of squeezing in another DVD tonight from my collection. feeling like a bit of My Sassy Girl coming on, or Garden State or even Memoirs of a Geisha. but probably settle with something i havent seen before like Last Days or Jarhead.
still wet and cold but it's a great night to crank up the central heating and pop in a DVD to relax the brain. ahh.....
