Another Weekend
kinda cb posting this, still a jaded from a massive weekend
friday i don't normally work, but i did, and then had YG later in the evening. tried to head out to the city early so i could drop in on Chops' bday drinks but got held up for numerous reasons.
so ended up heading out to the city with garry, lena, catherine and lan for a night at amber. at first the plan was to hit billboards but that was scrapped in preference for a typical asian night.
the night was alright, better than i expected, but not without it's downs. unsurprisingly there were two fights that broke out which annoyed me and restored by cynicism in "asian nights". *yawn* typical punk asians. but the company was good and in the latter stages of the night, garry entertained us all (girl tam and i in particular) as he chatted away with some girl ;)
ended up hitting the hay at 4ish on saturday morning.
then got up pronto at 8am for thai lessons. it was a good test of character for my brain. having not much sleep with perhaps little (yes LITTLE) remnants of alcohol and then trying to learn thai was a challenge indeed. and even though i scored the lowest in the little quiz we had, i'm ok with it given it was my first lesson since the trip when the others had already covered two weeks worth of material.
after the lesson, i initially planned (yeah, and we all know what happens with plans) to go straight home and get some sleep before another big night out. but, as it turned out, i went along with the rest of the guys to have some yum cha at Shark Fin on Burwood Hwy.
lunch was finished by around 1pm and in the carpark there was a bit of mulling over where everyone was going. the girls had to go to work, but for the boys, the idea of golf was being bandied around. nothing happened until justin and matty made the decisive move to leave and head to box hill to look at some car parts. the rest of us stood there for a few moments before deciding to wash our cars near karl's place up in mulgrave.
so ken drove peter and i drove karl out that way. got to karl's and played his ps2 for a good hour or so, including some singstar 80s and winning eleven 10! matty rocked up and we went to wash our cars. by that stage my lack of sleep had really started to creep in. even so, i washed the car and didnt leave mulgrave till around 5pm.
on the way home, i decided to drop in at anna's since i know i'd get a good feed there. did i mention that her mum is a great cook? couple that with the fact that vanessa was over at anna's as well made it an easy decision to go and chill out. got to anna's and the girls were watching jamie oliver dvds. i said hello and quickly fell asleep. woke up and heard vic laughing at probably vanessa and realised it was about 7:30pm. i had had a 45min nap through the whole day. hmm...
after dinner, which was a delicious little number the girls just learned and prepped from the aforementioned dvd, we had dessert, which was the usual ice cream with mix-in assorted chocolates. mmm...
left anna's around 9pm with vanessa following my car. it was organised that garry would swing by mine at 9:50pm so i didnt have much time left. in actual fact, by the time i got home around 9.30pm, i had 20 mins to shower and get out of my bum clothes for a night out at boulevard.
the five of us (garry, mandy, vanessa, victor and myself) left mine at 10:15pm and arrived at the front steps of blvd at 10.45pm, just in time to be let inside with drew (who'd been prompt and waiting for 15mins), wai and leonard among other friends of friends.
the night started off slowly and it was quite empty since the doors had not opened for very long. got to the top of the stairs and saw chris which kick started things. we headed straight for the bar and some drinks were had, as well as introductions between a mish mash of different groups of people.
i had a ton of fun given the amount of people i knew there and the general atmosphere. it wasnt lost on me that it was an asian night, but still, i think blvd still has a certain reputation as a cleaner club than most, emphasis on the 'er' in cleaner. it definitely played better tunes than amber the previous night although there were some questionable choices on occasion.
cant remember in detail (im not anal) what happened every step of the way, nor would i bother to blog everything anyway, but i just know it was one of the first good nights out i had had in a long time. some highlights included seeing chris and heng for the first time in who knows how long, garry meeting the chick he picked up at amber, monica (no comment haha), hearing garry dry-retch in the next cubicle and seeing everyone just smiling in general.
props to all those who came out: cat, chris, drew, garry, heng, karl, liv, leo, mandy, monica, vanessa, victor and wai.
despite my attempts to get up in time for rehearsal at 9.30am, i almost physically couldnt do it, so isaac to the rescue, played drums for me. ended up being late for service, then had lunch at isa brown on glenferrie.
went to chaddy later in the evening and bought this full colour Audrey Hepburn memoir written by her son at Borders with my 20% voucher! haha. also made the customary stop at JB Hi Fi but amazingly didn't buy anything. had dinner at anna's with vic then went home and straight to sleep.
wow. im tired just thinking about it all. i dont think i've done that much in one weekend for a while. i think im gonna nap again zzzzzzzz...
